Incumbent Republican Greg Abbott seeks a fourth term against Democratic state representative Gina Hinojosa in the November 2026 Texas gubernatorial election. Trader pricing at 79% for Abbott reflects his strong primary performance, Texas's long Republican dominance in statewide races, and historical incumbent advantages, even as recent polling has tightened. Multiple September surveys show Abbott leading by 1-3 points on average among likely voters, though one ReconMR poll had Hinojosa ahead by 4 points within the margin of error. Forecasters from Cook, Sabato, and Inside Elections rate the contest Likely Republican after shifting it from safer categories in August amid narrower margins and shifts among independents on issues such as affordability and border security. The race remains competitive with roughly seven weeks until Election Day.

Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
