Recent polling on the generic congressional ballot shows Democrats holding a substantial lead among voters under 30 and young men ages 18-29, with margins ranging from 21 to 35 points in surveys conducted in September 2026. This positioning reflects a reversal from 2024 gains by Republicans with this demographic, driven by shifts in approval ratings, lower midterm turnout expectations among Republican-leaning young men, and stronger Democratic performance in likely-voter screens. Broader generational patterns, including Democratic advantages among independents and lower-propensity voters who supported Republicans in the prior presidential contest, reinforce trader consensus around a Democratic edge. Upcoming factors such as enthusiasm gaps and specific state-level turnout could still influence final results.
