This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a confirmed case of Ebola in the territory of the specified country reported between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Any active laboratory-confirmed, or otherwise officially confirmed, Ebola infection identified within the territory of the specified country will qualify, regardless of where exposure, symptom onset, or testing occurred. The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the relevant national and international health authorities; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting will also suffice. The ongoing Bundibugyo virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, declared in mid-May 2026 and now the fastest-growing and second-largest Ebola event on record, dominates trader views for countries recording at least one case this year. Rapid spread across seven provinces amid conflict, displacement, and weak surveillance has produced thousands of confirmed infections and deaths, with imported cases already logged in Uganda and France. Limited local transmission outside the DRC epicenter, successful containment in Uganda after its 42-day monitoring period, and no further community spread reported elsewhere keep the market focused on these three nations while highlighting risks of additional exports before year-end. Precursor signals such as contact-tracing gaps and population mobility suggest potential for further movement, though response efforts including early vaccination campaigns could limit new countries.
