Romeo Doubs enters the 2026 season as the Patriots’ primary outside receiver behind A.J. Brown after signing a four-year deal in free agency from Green Bay. His 2025 output of six touchdowns on 85 targets reflected strong red-zone usage and contested-catch ability, traits that align with Drake Maye’s deep-ball tendencies and Josh McDaniels’ scheme. However, Brown’s ankle injury in Week 1 has already created short-term target opportunities, while Doubs’ own three-target, zero-catch debut underscored the challenge of carving consistent volume as a clear WR2. Historical patterns show he has never reached 100 targets in a season, capping realistic touchdown ceilings unless Brown misses extended time or the offense tilts heavily toward the perimeter.
