The open mayoral seat, following incumbent Jeff Leal’s decision not to seek re-election, has produced a crowded field of seven certified candidates ahead of the October 26 municipal vote in Peterborough, Ontario. With no dominant frontrunner established, traders have priced Neil Morton and Michael Eamon as the narrowest leaders while assigning Keith Riel a smaller share and minimal probabilities to the remaining contenders. Recent candidate forums, platform launches focused on economic development and housing, and outreach to student voters at Trent University have kept the contest fluid without clear separation. The absence of polling data and the first-past-the-post system in a multi-candidate race sustain the tight implied probabilities until further differentiation emerges closer to election day.
