The 2026 Big 12 rushing yards race remains tightly bunched early in the season because a deep group of returning starters and transfers shares comparable workloads and supporting offenses. Preseason standouts such as LJ Martin at BYU, Cameron Dickey at Texas Tech, Wayshawn Parker at Utah, Jeremy Payne at TCU, and Joe Jackson at Kansas State headline the list, yet limited Week 1-3 production has not allowed any back to pull clear. Shared backfields, defensive adjustments, and favorable remaining schedules for multiple programs sustain the uncertainty reflected in trader pricing, with outcomes hinging on volume, efficiency, and injury resilience over the full campaign.
