Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Georgia remain close behind thanks to returning starters, strong defensive lines, and proven coordinators who limited opponents effectively in recent seasons. LSU’s position reflects solid talent but recent setbacks, including a loss to Ole Miss that exposed vulnerabilities in the secondary and red zone. Indiana and Iowa benefit from consistent schemes and stout run defenses, while early SP+ and expert projections highlight a broad group of Big Ten and SEC units with comparable efficiency metrics. The bunched probabilities underscore how preseason roster evaluations, transfer portal activity, and the first few weeks of conference play continue to shape trader views on which unit will lead in points and yards allowed by season’s end.
