This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Phillies' managerial search centers on president Dave Dombrowski's strong preference for reuniting with Alex Cora, his former Red Sox skipper who was offered the role after Rob Thomson's April firing amid a 9-19 start but declined to prioritize family time. Cora remains the trader favorite at 33.2% implied probability given his proven track record, including a 2018 World Series title, and recent comments signaling openness to returning. Don Mattingly holds second at 15.5% as the current interim bench coach elevated in April, bringing extensive managerial experience. Other candidates like Bruce Bochy reflect interest in proven veterans, while internal or lesser-known options trail amid ongoing front-office evaluations ahead of a permanent hire.
