Luis Arraez holds the top spot in MLB batting average at approximately .318 through early September, ahead of Yordan Alvarez at .312, reflecting his elite contact rate, minimal strikeouts, and consistent line-drive approach across 138 games. Alvarez trails despite strong on-base production and power output, while Otto Lopez, Yandy Díaz, and Freddie Freeman sit further back around .300-.305. With roughly three weeks remaining, Arraez's track record of sustaining high averages in the final stretch underpins the market's implied probabilities, as late-season plate discipline and matchup stability favor his profile over power-oriented challengers.
