Mike Evans enters the 2026 regular season with the San Francisco 49ers after signing a three-year deal in free agency following a 12-year run with the Buccaneers. The 33-year-old wideout posted career lows of 30 receptions in eight games during 2025 due to a hamstring injury and broken clavicle that ended his streak of 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He opened 2026 with six catches for 49 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in Week 1 against the Rams, showing early chemistry with quarterback Brock Purdy despite minor training-camp ailments. As the projected WR1 in Kyle Shanahan’s offense—where George Kittle continues rehabbing an Achilles—Evans’ target volume and red-zone usage will hinge on sustained health across a 17-game schedule, the 49ers’ passing-game efficiency, and how defenses adjust to his size and contested-catch ability.
