PSG’s sluggish start to the 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign, with just two points from three matches after early draws and a loss to Monaco, has tempered pre-season expectations of another dominant title run while still leaving the club as the clearest top-four lock due to squad depth and European experience. Lille, Monaco, and Rennes have surged into the early lead with strong defensive showings and timely scoring from players such as Kamory Doumbia and Paris Brunner, while Lyon and Paris FC occupy solid mid-table positions after four rounds. Pre-season simulations highlighted Lens and Lille as the likeliest challengers for the remaining Champions League berths alongside PSG, with schedule congestion, European commitments, and injury management set to shape the extended race among the established contenders.
