Official observations from New York City’s Central Park station recorded a daily maximum of 82–83°F on September 9, 2026, aligning precisely with the market’s near-certain outcome. This reading fell within the typical late-summer range for the date, slightly above the 1991–2020 average high of 78.8°F yet well below historical extremes exceeding 90°F. Consistent data from nearby ASOS sites and National Weather Service preliminary climatological summaries confirmed the value with minimal model or observational spread. A realistic challenge would require post-event quality-control revisions or a switch to an alternate official station reporting a meaningfully different maximum, though such adjustments are rare once preliminary figures are released.
