The official National Weather Service observation at Chicago O’Hare recorded a daily maximum of 76°F on September 16, 2026, reached by late morning before light rain, fog, and northeast winds kept readings from climbing further. This value matched the 1991–2020 climatological normal high exactly and occurred under stable conditions without strong warm-air advection or clear-sky heating that might have pushed temperatures higher. Market-implied odds near 100% for the 76–77°F bin reflect traders rapidly incorporating the verified NWS report, which serves as the authoritative source for resolution. Minor uncertainty could arise only from rare post-event data revisions or differences in station siting, though such adjustments are uncommon for this well-monitored site.
