The 2026-27 Scottish Premiership runner-up market remains exceptionally tight early in the campaign, with no single side establishing clear separation behind Celtic. Hearts, Rangers, Hibernian, Motherwell, and St Mirren each sit in or near the top six after the opening fixtures, buoyed by summer recruitment and variable European schedules that have created uneven fixture lists. Pre-season projections highlighted Rangers and Hearts as the primary challengers, yet inconsistent results, new managerial setups at several clubs, and the impact of promoted sides like Falkirk have kept the second-place picture fluid. Trader consensus reflects this parity, with multiple teams holding realistic paths to the position depending on how form, injuries, and squad depth evolve through the autumn.
