Early in the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign, after just two matchdays, a cluster of sides including Borussia Dortmund, SC Freiburg, promoted SV Elversberg, and others sit level on points with strong goal differences, while Bayern Munich hold only four points. This even spread, combined with pre-season expectations around Dortmund’s consistency under Niko Kovac and the attacking potential of sides like VfB Stuttgart, TSG Hoffenheim, and SC Paderborn, keeps second-place probabilities tightly grouped near 40-49%. Managerial transitions at Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, plus the integration of promoted squads, add further uncertainty to the race for runner-up behind the defending champions.
