This market will resolve to "Yes" if Max Verstappen officially announces his retirement from Formula 1 by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". To resolve "Yes", the announcement must clearly state that Max Verstappen is retiring from Formula 1 racing. The announcement must come from Max Verstappen himself or his official representatives. The retirement must be intended to take effect immediately or prior to the start of the next season following the announcement. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements from Max Verstappen; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Max Verstappen’s recent four-year contract extension with Red Bull through 2030, announced in August 2026 ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, anchors the near-certain trader consensus against retirement in 2026. The four-time champion, who had voiced frustration with the 2026 power-unit regulations emphasizing electrical energy management, cited his adaptation to the rules, ongoing talks with F1 and the FIA for refinements, and the potential return of V8 engines around 2030 as key factors in his decision to stay. He described Red Bull as a “second family” and noted he felt closer to stepping away from the sport entirely than switching teams, while performance-related exit clauses from his prior deal through 2028 went untriggered. Recent on-track results, including podiums at the Spanish and Italian Grands Prix amid a sixth-place championship standing, reflect continued competitiveness despite Red Bull’s mid-pack form. The only plausible paths to a 2026 exit remain severe unforeseen circumstances such as a major injury or abrupt regulatory fallout, both viewed as remote by the market’s implied probability.
