This market will resolve to “Yes” if any bill, measure, or resolution that requires proof of U.S. citizenship as a condition for registering to vote or to vote in U.S. federal elections is passed by both chambers of the U.S. Congress and signed into law, or is otherwise enacted into U.S. federal law, by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Examples of qualifying legislation include H.R. 22, the “SAVE Act,” and H.R. 7296, the “SAVE America Act.” The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of the United States; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.The SAVE America Act, requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship for federal voter registration along with photo ID and related measures, passed the House in February 2026 on a 218-213 vote but has stalled in the Senate. Multiple attempts to advance it via amendments to funding bills, the NDAA, or reconciliation packages failed, most recently with 48-50 votes in June when four Republicans joined Democrats to block inclusion. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has stated there is insufficient support to overcome a filibuster or secure 60 votes, leading to adjournment in August without further action. President Trump has tied the measure to other priorities and urged procedural changes, yet structural barriers in the upper chamber and internal GOP divisions continue to limit prospects for enactment before the end of the session.
