The early weeks of the 2026 NCAA Football season keep implied probabilities tightly clustered near 50% across dozens of running backs, as no player has yet built an insurmountable lead in rushing touchdowns amid a deep talent pool. Several backs, including Jadan Baugh, Jaylin Carter, Wayne Knight, and Nate Sheppard, have posted strong early totals through limited games, but workload distribution, offensive scheme differences, goal-line usage, and remaining schedule strength create broad parity. Trader consensus reflects this uncertainty, with injury resilience, conference play intensity, and late-season surges among unlisted or lower-volume backs all capable of shifting the outcome before bowl games conclude.
