The project envisions solar-powered satellite constellations equipped with Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) and high-bandwidth optical links to address terrestrial power and cooling constraints for large language model training and inference. SpaceX, which is advancing its own plans for Starship-deployed AI satellites following its xAI integration, offers unmatched launch cadence and capacity. While no binding agreement has been confirmed as of mid-2026, these talks build on Google's early SpaceX investment and recent terrestrial compute deals between the firms.
