This prompted the Bank of England to hold Bank Rate at 3.75% on September 17 with a 6-3 vote, as three MPC members favored an immediate 25-basis-point hike amid concerns over second-round effects. Market-implied odds now price roughly 77% odds of a November 5 tightening, reflecting trader consensus that persistent commodity pressures will force at least one 2026 increase despite subdued wage growth and labor market data. The next key catalyst remains the November Monetary Policy Committee decision, where incoming inflation prints and energy developments could shift the rate path.
