Drake Maye enters the 2026 regular season following a 2025 breakout of 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and league-leading completion rate in Josh McDaniels’ offense, though his Week 1 performance produced just 178 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in a loss to Seattle. The early ankle injury to newly acquired wide receiver A.J. Brown, expected to sideline him for multiple weeks, removes Maye’s top target and forces greater reliance on Romeo Doubs, running backs, and tight ends against an early schedule featuring Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, and Buffalo. Maye remains fully healthy after offseason shoulder recovery and benefits from an upgraded offensive line, yet the combination of defensive pressure and adjusted game plans could cap volume in the short term while the unit stabilizes.
