A.J. Brown enters the 2026 regular season as the Patriots’ clear top wide receiver target after a June trade from the Eagles, joining a Drake Maye-led offense expected to emphasize the passing game more than Philadelphia’s recent schemes. Brown posted seven receiving touchdowns in 15 games during 2025 despite a modest 78 receptions for 1,003 yards. His Week 1 debut ended early with a right ankle injury sustained in the third quarter against Seattle, resulting in just three catches for 26 yards and placement in a walking boot, with coach Mike Vrabel offering no immediate update on severity or timeline. Recovery pace, target volume in New England’s system, and red-zone usage will shape his season-long total amid typical NFL variability in scoring opportunities.
