Big Tobacco's push into nicotine pouches reflects a broader industry shift toward smoke-free growth as cigarette volumes decline, with recent bolt-on deals highlighting the strategy. Imperial Brands completed its September 2026 acquisition of Sweden's Yoik Group and Helwit brand while adding U.S.-based Black Buffalo earlier in the year, both aimed at scaling modern oral share in key markets. Altria's 2025 MOU with KT&G to jointly pursue Nordic player ASF and its LOOP line signals continued partnership-driven consolidation. Dominant players like Philip Morris International's Zyn, British American Tobacco's Velo, and Altria's on! already anchor the category, bolstered by Zyn's FDA modified-risk authorization and expanding strength variants, though smaller independents remain potential targets amid rising competition and regulatory scrutiny. Upcoming launches such as Velo Max and on! Plus expansions could influence further M&A momentum through year-end.
