Michael Alfonso secured the Republican nomination in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District after winning the August primary with nearly 49 percent of the vote in a crowded field, backed by President Trump’s endorsement and ties to former Representative Sean Duffy. The district’s longstanding Republican tilt—evident in double-digit margins for the party in recent cycles and nonpartisan ratings classifying it as safe or solid Republican—underpins trader consensus on his strong position heading into the November general election against Democrat Fred Clark. Alfonso’s fundraising edge and the open-seat dynamics following Tom Tiffany’s gubernatorial bid further reinforce this positioning. Late developments such as major scandals, shifts in national conditions, or unusually high Democratic turnout could still alter outcomes in the remaining weeks.
