Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District open seat, vacated by retiring Republican Rep. Don Bacon, has produced strong trader consensus behind Democrat Denise Powell at 90.5% implied probability. Powell secured the Democratic nomination in a competitive May 2026 primary and benefits from DCCC Red-to-Blue backing plus consistent fundraising edges. The district’s recent “blue dot” performance in presidential contests and its Omaha-centered electorate have reinforced expectations of a Democratic hold. Republican nominee Brinker Harding, an Omaha City Council member, faces structural headwinds in the swing district despite local name recognition. Late shifts in national midterm dynamics, higher Republican turnout, or unforeseen campaign developments could still narrow the margin before the November 3 general election.
