Arman Tsarukyan entered UFC 331’s lightweight co-main event as the heavy favorite against Mauricio Ruffy, seeking to reestablish himself as the top title contender after a 2025 injury withdrawal and limited activity. Ruffy brought momentum from recent knockouts but faced a stylistic clash against Tsarukyan’s elite wrestling and clinch work. The five-round bout at Crypto.com Arena carried title-shot implications, with commentators likely to highlight grappling attempts, striking exchanges, and any visible damage given Ruffy’s power and Tsarukyan’s pressure along the fence. Recent form, reach advantages, and the short-notice booking shaped pre-fight expectations for frequent references to takedowns, jabs, or blood during the main-card slot on Paramount+. The fight ended in a first-round elbow KO, directly influencing which phrases aired.
