The NFL single-season passing touchdowns record stands at 55, set by Peyton Manning in 2013, with only two other quarterbacks (Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady) reaching 50. Entering the 2026 season, leading projections for top passers such as Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Matthew Stafford center around 30-35 passing touchdowns, well below the mark even in a 17-game schedule. Recent seasons have seen league leaders top out at 46 (Stafford in 2025) amid balanced offensive schemes, defensive adjustments, and injury considerations that limit volume. Early 2026 results and historical trends reinforce trader consensus that no quarterback will approach the required efficiency and opportunity, keeping the probability of breaking the record low.
