This market will resolve to “Yes” if the next Prime Minister of Romania is officially appointed by the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. To count for resolution, the individual must be approved by the Romanian Parliament and officially sworn in as Prime Minister. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. Nomination for parliamentary consideration by the President will not count. If no such Prime Minister is appointed by the listed date, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “No”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Romania's ongoing parliamentary deadlock, triggered by the May 2026 no-confidence ouster of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's centre-right coalition, continues to shape expectations for the next government formation. President Nicușor Dan's third nomination of MEP Siegfried Mureșan on September 17 gives the candidate ten days to assemble a cabinet and secure a confidence vote, following failed prior attempts with Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea. The centre-right grouping of PNL, USR, and UDMR backs Mureșan for a pro-European minority administration, but the largest parties—PSD and AUR—have withheld clear support amid disputes over austerity, EU funds access, and coalition terms. Persistent fragmentation raises the prospect of snap elections if this bid also fails, with economic rating reviews and fiscal pressures adding urgency to any resolution.
