DK Metcalf enters the 2026 regular season with the Pittsburgh Steelers after a career-low 59 receptions on 99 targets across 15 games in 2025, his first year in Pittsburgh. Key variables shaping his total include the new Mike McCarthy offensive scheme, which emphasizes a more dynamic passing attack after Arthur Smith’s tenure, and returning quarterback Aaron Rodgers on a one-year deal. Added target competition from acquired wideout Michael Pittman and second-round rookie Germie Bernard could dilute volume, though Metcalf remains the featured veteran option. He missed portions of training camp with an unspecified injury but has practiced fully and cleared Week 1 injury reports ahead of the opener versus Atlanta. Historical per-game averages near 4.4 receptions and a restructured contract underscore expectations for a rebound in targets and opportunities if the Steelers’ offense generates more passing attempts. Schedule strength, Rodgers’ health, and red-zone usage will further influence the final reception tally.
