Recent Kremlin statements have positioned China as the frontrunner for the next Trump-Putin encounter, with aides confirming discussions of a possible trilateral meeting with Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the November APEC summit in Shenzhen. Putin-Trump phone calls in September referenced this option, building on earlier SCO talks and ongoing Ukraine diplomacy. Traders have assigned China a 69% implied probability, reflecting these signals and Beijing’s role hosting the forum. The 26.5% chance of no meeting by year-end captures scheduling uncertainty and the lack of a firm bilateral commitment. Other venues, including the United States, remain at single-digit levels amid the current diplomatic momentum toward Asia.
