Luis Arraez holds the top spot in the MLB batting average race through early September with a .318 mark, driven by his elite contact rate, minimal strikeouts, and consistent multi-hit games that have preserved his edge over the final weeks. Yordan Alvarez sits second at .311-.313, bolstered by a high on-base percentage and power production but limited by fewer hits per at-bat compared to pure contact specialists. Otto Lopez, Yandy Díaz, and Freddie Freeman remain in the mix with averages near .300-.306, though each trails by a meaningful margin with the regular season winding down. Arraez's track record of prior batting titles and current form position him as the clear frontrunner in trader consensus, while late surges or injuries could still shift the leaderboard.
