Broadcasters across Europe and beyond are finalizing entries for the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in Burgas, Bulgaria, with applications due by mid-September 2026. Canada’s confirmed debut as the first new participant since Australia marks a major expansion, while North Macedonia’s return adds to the field after a four-year absence. Geopolitical tensions continue to shape participation, as the Netherlands maintains its boycott over Israel’s involvement, and Spain, Ireland, Iceland, and Slovenia weigh decisions amid lingering protests from 2026. Recent EBU rule updates on conflict-related hosting eligibility and minimum contestant age aim to address political voting concerns. National selection processes in countries like Denmark, Estonia, and Finland are slated for early 2027, with roughly 40 nations expected overall.
