Chris Godwin enters the 2026 NFL season fully recovered from prior lower-leg injuries that limited him to nine games and two receiving touchdowns in 2025. With Mike Evans departed, the veteran slot receiver has drawn praise from Buccaneers management for his route-running sharpness and leadership, positioning him for an expanded target share under new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson and quarterback Baker Mayfield. Early training-camp maintenance days reflect standard veteran management rather than setbacks, though rookie Emeka Egbuka’s toe issue and Jalen McMillan’s knee concern could elevate Godwin’s Week 1 role. Historical production shows consistent volume when healthy, yet touchdown totals have rarely exceeded low single digits amid a crowded passing attack and his age-30 profile.
