Recent polling ahead of Quebec’s October 5 election shows the Parti Québécois holding a narrow lead near 28 percent, positioning it for first place while leaving the race for second closely contested. The Parti Libéral du Québec has edged ahead of the Coalition Avenir Québec in most recent surveys, with support in the low-to-mid 20s, reflecting modest Liberal gains among anglophone and allophone voters and a slight CAQ decline amid voter fatigue with the incumbent government. The CAQ, now led by Christine Fréchette following a leadership transition, trails despite earlier campaign momentum on issues such as cost of living and U.S. trade relations. Traders assign the highest probability to the PLQ finishing second, consistent with seat projections that favor it for official opposition status over the CAQ and smaller parties.
