The US, Denmark, and Greenland reached a security agreement on September 18, 2026, expanding permanent US military access, basing, and overflight rights while barring non-NATO bases and adversarial investments. President Trump announced the terms via social media, but the full official text has not been released as of September 20. Danish and Greenlandic leaders confirmed the pact preserves sovereignty and self-determination, with signing scheduled for the UN General Assembly the following week and subsequent parliamentary approval required in Copenhagen and Nuuk. These steps, alongside the existing 1951 defense framework and recent EU partnership funding, shape trader focus on timelines for public disclosure versus ongoing procedural or diplomatic delays.
