Recent polling for Berlin’s September 20 state election shows the CDU narrowly ahead of or level with the AfD in a fragmented field, with both parties typically in the 18–21% range alongside Die Linke and the Greens. The CDU, as the incumbent governing party with lead candidate Stefan Evers, has held a modest edge in the most recent surveys from INSA and Infratest dimap, while the AfD has roughly doubled its 2023 result amid broader national gains. Traders appear to weigh the CDU’s consistent polling position and governing record more heavily than the AfD’s upward trend, given the firewall maintained by other parties. The tight multi-party race leaves room for late shifts in turnout or undecided voters before election day.
