**Market-implied odds heavily favor the status quo because the SEC’s May 2026 proposal to permit optional semiannual reporting on new Form 10-S instead of mandatory Form 10-Q filings has encountered intense resistance.** The formal comment period, which closed in July, produced record opposition—more than 97 percent of submissions from investors, funds, and advisory bodies argued that reduced interim disclosure would impair price discovery, raise volatility, and weaken corporate monitoring. The SEC’s own Investor Advisory Committee recommended against eliminating the quarterly mandate, citing its role in timely capital allocation. Although Chairman Paul Atkins has signaled continued pursuit of deregulatory flexibility, no final rule has been adopted, legal and procedural hurdles remain substantial, and companies could still furnish quarterly data voluntarily through earnings releases or Form 8-K filings. These dynamics sustain the 79 percent probability assigned to “No.”

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission votes to approve a rule or otherwise formally enacts a policy that removes the requirement for publicly traded companies to file quarterly earnings reports by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
Narrow company or industry specific removals of quarterly earnings requirements will not qualify. Likewise a general removal of the rules which maintains the quarterly reporting requirement for specific companies will qualify.
Any approving vote on a rule change that reduces the requirement to report earnings from quarterly to a less frequent cadence will qualify.
The primary resolution source will be official information from the SEC; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
