Western Conference playoff advancement in the 2025-26 NHL postseason hinged on Central Division depth and Pacific parity, with the Colorado Avalanche claiming the Presidents’ Trophy on the strength of elite regular-season metrics before falling in the conference final. Dallas, Minnesota, Vegas, Edmonton, Anaheim, Utah, and Los Angeles filled the bracket, where first-round series outcomes often turned on goaltending consistency, special-teams execution, and home-ice results. Vegas advanced furthest among Western teams by navigating a competitive Pacific path and then sweeping Colorado in the conference final, underscoring roster depth and timely scoring. Preseason roster adjustments, contract extensions, and early injury reports now shape expectations for 2026-27 contenders seeking similar second-round berths.
