This market will resolve to "Yes" if Lionel Messi finishes as the leading goalscorer of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season regular season. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The 2027 MLS Sprint Season is the abbreviated 14-match Major League Soccer regular season scheduled to run from February 2027 to May 2027. Only goals scored in Sprint Season regular-season matches count. Goals in the 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, U.S. Open Cup, international matches and friendlies do not count. If Major League Soccer officially presents a Golden Boot award for the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, this market will resolve according to that award. If two or more players finish level on goals scored, this market will resolve according to the tiebreaker applied by Major League Soccer, which awards the Golden Boot to the tied player with the fewest minutes played. If no single winner can be determined, this market will resolve to "No". If the 2027 MLS Sprint Season is cancelled, postponed after June 15, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or no leading goalscorer can be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Soccer; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Trader consensus heavily favors "No" at 79% because the 2027 MLS Sprint Season is a compressed 14-match window from February to May, when Lionel Messi will be 39–40 and faces credible questions about his availability and workload.** Speculation persists that he could return to boyhood club Newell's Old Boys during that exact period, aligning with MLS's transitional calendar shift. Even if he remains with Inter Miami, younger dedicated forwards like Petar Musa project strongly in goal tallies over limited fixtures, while Messi's proven playmaking emphasis (high assists alongside goals) and history of managed minutes reduce his edge in a pure scoring race. Recent 2026 dominance, including leading the league in goals and contributions, has not shifted the longer-term view given age, potential absence, and sprint-format volatility. Key upcoming catalysts include any official confirmation on his 2027 club status or early-season form updates once the abbreviated campaign begins.
