Kyle Monangai enters the 2026 season as the clear No. 2 running back for the Chicago Bears behind D’Andre Swift, with the team making no offseason additions at the position. As a 2025 seventh-round rookie, he posted 783 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 169 carries while adding 18 receptions for 164 yards. In Week 1 against the Panthers, Monangai exploded for 100 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries, including a 61-yard score, plus 24 receiving yards, showcasing strong efficiency and yards-after-contact production. A hamstring issue limited him in midweek practice ahead of Week 2 versus Minnesota, while Swift also dealt with ankle and knee concerns after heavy Week 1 usage. Monangai’s season-long rushing total hinges on his complementary role in a committee, Swift’s availability, the Bears’ offensive line and scheme, and his own durability after prior knee and soft-tissue issues.
