Courtland Sutton enters the 2026 NFL season as the Broncos’ veteran wide receiver and team captain, coming off three straight seasons with at least seven receiving touchdowns (10 in 2023, eight in 2024, seven in 2025) while posting back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns. The addition of Jaylen Waddle this offseason has shifted Sutton into a clearer complementary role behind the new arrival in the target hierarchy under quarterback Bo Nix, though Sutton remains a primary red-zone option given his size and contested-catch ability. Denver’s Week 1 offense struggled in a 31-10 loss to Kansas City, limiting Sutton to two receptions for 11 yards on five targets with no scores. Load-management protocols during training camp addressed prior-season fatigue, and Sutton has no reported injuries heading into Week 2 against Jacksonville. His full-season touchdown total will hinge on target volume amid the crowded receiving corps, Nix’s efficiency, and the Broncos’ overall passing opportunities.
