Ohio State leads trader consensus for top-ranked NCAA football defense at 31% implied probability, followed closely by Indiana at 25.5%, with LSU, Iowa, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma clustered in the 11-20% range. Early 2026 season results keep the market competitive, as Iowa, Notre Dame, and Indiana have allowed the fewest points per game through Week 3 while limiting total yards and third-down conversions. Preseason evaluations highlighted returning production and scheme continuity for units like Notre Dame’s secondary and Indiana’s front seven, while Ohio State’s depth and LSU’s experience sustain support despite mixed early outputs. Historical strength, Big Ten and SEC scheduling, and limited sample sizes prevent any single team from pulling away in the wisdom-of-crowds pricing.
