Kyle Monangai enters the 2026 season as the established No. 2 running back for the Chicago Bears behind D’Andre Swift in Ben Johnson’s offense, following a 2025 rookie campaign of 783 rushing yards on 169 carries across 17 games. The Bears added no competition at the position and project a split workload that could expand if Swift misses time in the final year of his deal. Monangai hyperextended his right knee in mid-August training camp, missing most of the preseason, but returned to full practice by early September and cleared the Week 1 injury report for the opener against Carolina. Analysts project roughly 700–825 rushing yards for the season depending on carry volume, with his efficiency in expanded roles (such as 176 yards in one 2025 start) supporting upside if opportunities increase.
