Chris Godwin enters the 2026 season as Tampa Bay’s lead wide receiver following Mike Evans’ departure, creating additional target opportunities in an offense led by Baker Mayfield and featuring younger options like Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan. However, the 30-year-old’s extensive lower-body injury history—including a season-ending ankle dislocation in 2024 and a fibula issue that limited him to nine games in 2025—remains the dominant factor, with recent reports indicating he is sidelined again by a fibula problem and unlikely to return before late November. Early 2026 production has been minimal (four receptions for 40 yards in Week 1), and durability concerns at his age temper expectations for volume even if he returns healthy. Trader sentiment reflects these risks alongside his veteran role and contract security.
