Big Tobacco’s push into nicotine pouches is accelerating amid declining cigarette volumes and the category’s rapid expansion to roughly $5 billion in the U.S. alone. Recent deals, including Imperial Brands’ September 2026 acquisition of Helwit owner Yoik Group and the 2025 joint purchase of Nordic maker ASF by KT&G and Altria, highlight a strategy of bolt-on buys to secure manufacturing, brands, and market share. FDA authorizations for Zyn variants and on! PLUS products have enhanced regulatory credibility and marketing flexibility, while BAT’s Velo Plus gains traction. Traders watch for further consolidation as global pouch revenue is projected to reach £11 billion by 2030, with upcoming regulatory shifts in the U.K. and potential new approvals likely to influence which independent brands attract suitors next.
