Nasim Nuñez maintains a commanding position in the 2026 stolen bases race with 46 thefts through early September, outpacing the nearest challengers by six or more. His speed-focused role with the Nationals has delivered consistent opportunities on the bases despite a modest .210 average, and he has added steals in recent games while holding off pursuers like Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Chandler Simpson, both near 40. Bobby Witt Jr. and others trail further back with totals in the upper 30s, reflecting steadier but less prolific base-running volume amid stronger offensive profiles. With roughly three weeks remaining, Nuñez's established edge and ongoing activity make him the clear market leader among traders.
