Trump publicly endorsed the idea of rebranding Immigration and Customs Enforcement as National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (NICE) in late April 2026 after a supporter's social media suggestion, sharing mock logos and running an online poll in June that favored the change. Any official rename requires congressional legislation rather than executive action alone, a step that has seen no introduced bills, committee action, or scheduled votes. Senior officials including border czar Tom Homan voiced internal opposition, and White House statements framed the proposal as a meme intended to highlight enforcement efforts. With legislative priorities centered on deportations and agency operations through mid-2026, traders see limited near-term momentum for the symbolic rebrand despite the president's repeated amplification.
