Ruth González Silva leads the San Luis Potosí gubernatorial race for 2027 with trader consensus at 64.5%, reflecting her strong positioning within the Partido Verde Ecologista de México (PVEM). Current Governor Ricardo Gallardo publicly presented her as his successor in July 2026 events, highlighting continuity for the ruling party that holds the top electoral force in the state. Recent polling from sources like El Heraldo de México places her at approximately 30% preference, ahead of Morena-linked figures such as Gerardo Sánchez Zumaya. Morena’s internal rules against nepotism have complicated potential alliances, prompting the PVEM to signal an independent run. Lower-priced contenders face barriers from party dynamics, limited name recognition, and weaker survey performance in the lead-up to candidate selection and the 2027 vote.
