Quentin Johnston enters the 2026 season as the Chargers' established No. 2 wide receiver behind Ladd McConkey, coming off career highs of 51 receptions, 735 yards, and eight touchdowns in 14 games during 2025. The fifth-year option on his rookie deal was exercised, locking in a fully guaranteed $18 million for 2027 and signaling front-office confidence after consistent improvement. New offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel's scheme emphasizes quick releases and yards after catch, aligning with Johnston's strengths and drawing praise from Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh for expected growth. Minor lower-body injuries in training camp resolved without missing significant time, positioning him for a full workload in an offense projected to support multiple 800-yard receivers. Early schedule matchups and target competition with McConkey remain key variables for his season total.
