In the 2025-26 NHL season, the Colorado Avalanche captured the Presidents' Trophy with 121 points while the Vegas Golden Knights topped the Pacific Division at 95 points, setting up a Western Conference Finals matchup between the two. Key developments included Colorado's dominant regular-season form and depth, contrasted with Vegas's late coaching transition and strong goaltending that propelled them through the bracket. Other Western contenders such as the Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, and Anaheim Ducks competed in earlier rounds, with rest advantages, home-ice matchups, and injury reports shaping series outcomes. The Golden Knights ultimately swept the Avalanche in four games to advance, reflecting the wisdom of crowds pricing in Vegas's resilience and Colorado's postseason vulnerabilities.
